Canine Companions for Independence Graduation - August 2014Jason and Taran graduated along with 10 others in August. This video is a part of the ceremony. The audio at the end isn't very good, but you don't really need it. The video is 43 minutes long. If you want, you can skip the middle part of the puppy turn in, minutes 13 to 38.
Diamondbacks vs Padres Batting Practice - June 2014We won the drawing for Dexcom day at the ballpark and got to go to batting practice. We were on the Diamondbacks side of the field, so we saw mostly Diamondback players instead of Padres. They were all very nice and we had a great time.
A Minute of Puppies - June 2014During a trip to Sacramento, we got to see a seven week old litter of Canine Companion for Independence puppies. These are Patrice's second litter. She was raised by Pam Kitani, who also raised our first service dog, Marisa.

Padres Batting Practice - May 2014Jason got to go to the Padres batting practice on May 3 before the Padres vs Diamondbacks game. Our hosts, Sue, Christina, Fred and Joe were very nice, and all the players we got to meet were awesome.

Kids Take The Field - Apr 2014Jason got to "take the field" along with the Dodgers on Easter. His assignment - first base.
Zones - Apr 2014Rachel rode Tenor at Zones. She competed against 10 others from Washington, Colorado, Nebraska, Utah, Orgeon and California in Walk, Trot, Canter in Equitation and got first place. Next step: Nationals in Pennsylvania in early May.
Winter Respite - Mar 2014Jason and my favorite place for a run is the Pacific Beach boardwalk. After watching this video, we think you'll agree. This was a beautiful 78 degree day in early March.

Stanford Horse Show - Feb 2014Rachel showed twice at the Stanford Horse Show. She got first place on Feb 8 and fifth on Feb 9. This video is Feb 9 on Ace in the Advanced Walk Trot Cantor group. She now has pointed out of this level and moves up to the next one.

Rachel and Jason Go Skiing - Feb 2009Rachel and Jason went skiing at Bear Mountain on Feb 13, 2009. For both, it was their second time (although Rachel's first time skiing was when she was four years old.) Even with heavy snow in the afternoon, they skiied until closing time and even then didn't want to stop.

Jason was in the Helen Woodward Therapeutic Riding Horse Show on March 9, 2008. This show was also on the local news (see the newsclip on the 15 Minutes of Fame page).
Jason Skiing at Big Bear Mountain - Feb 2008On Feb 5, 2008, Jason went skiing for the first time. He used an adaptive skiing chair with an instructor/volunteer steering it. He started smiling on the first run and didn't stop for five hours of skiing. The Adaptive Skiing School at Big Bear does an amazing job!

Miracle League Opening Day - 2007
Jason and Rachel are on the Nationals baseball team. Rachel is Jason's "buddy"; responsible for helping him bat, pushing him and making sure a hit ball doesn't bean him. There are no outs, everyone bats every inning and the games always end in a tie. The last one up hits a home run and clears the bases.
